No New Posts The Leaky Cauldron

On Charing Cross Road, to Muggle eyes at least, a big bookshop stands directly beside a record store. The sharp-eyed wizard will note, however, that there is a building neatly nestled in between. This unobtrusive building is the Leaky Cauldron. Inside it is dark and shabby, with a bar and a number of tables in the shadows of the corners. In stark contrast to the grubby downstairs of the pub, there are some unexpectedly pleasant rooms upstairs where the passing wizard can stay for the night.

No New Posts Eeylops Owl Emporium

Inside the shop it is very dark, and full of flickering jewel-bright eyes. In addition to Snowy owls, Eeylops sells Tawny, Screech, Barn, and Brown owls as well.

No New Posts Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlor

A bright place full of sticky-sweet smells, and good humor. Multiple small tables sit out front of the parlor itself. A good place to gather and/or people watch.

No New Posts Flourish and Blotts

Flourish and Blotts stocks a wide range of books that are stacked from floor to ceiling: some leather-bound and as big as paving stones, some tiny and covered in silk, and some that have to be kept in a cage to stop them attacking passersby.

No New Posts Gringotts

The wizard bank. The Diagon Alley branch is a snowy-white building that towers over the other shops. It has burnished bronze doors, and is staffed entirely by Goblins. Gringotts differs from other banks in that instead of investing the money deposited by its customers, it simply places it in locked vaults located in a series of catacombs below the building. Therefore, when you return to collect your money, you get exactly the same coins back that you left there, and you don't get any interest. On the plus side, Gringotts is deemed impossible to steal from, for the most part.

No New Posts Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions

This shop is the place to buy your Hogwarts uniform, and robes for all other purposes as well. Each set of robes is made to measure, although this process doesn't take particularly long thanks to enchanted tape measures.

No New Posts Magical Menagerie

This is the place to go for any type of pet, including owls, although they have some competition from Eeylops on this front. Inside, the shop is smelly and very noisy, as cages line the walls from top to bottom and very few of the animals inside are of a quiet persuasion. In addition to owls, customers can purchase purple toads, Fire Crabs, Streelers, self-transfiguring rabbits, cats, ravens, Puffskeins, rats and probably a lot more besides. The Magical Menagerie is also the place to go for advice on double-ended newts.

No New Posts Ollivanders

Makers of Fine Wands Since 382BC

The most popular supplier of wands to the British wizarding population, it seems as though all present and former Hogwarts students got their wands here.

No New Posts Quality Quidditch Supplies

This shop is always guaranteed to have a crowd of gawping young witches and wizards hanging around it, as it stocks (amongst other things) the latest and most advanced Quidditch broomsticks that Galleons can buy.

No New Posts Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes

The new joke shop set up by Fred and George Weasley to sell their joke products. Located at Number 93, Diagon Alley, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes specializes in Headless Hats, Skiving Snackboxes, WonderWitch products, Portable Swamps, Canary Creams, and a vast selection of fireworks. In a darker, less crowded room in the back of the shop Fred and George kept their more serious line of products.

No New Posts Apothecary

This is the ideal place to buy potion ingredients, although it does smell of bad eggs and rotten cabbages inside. They sell--amongst other things--silver Unicorn horns, black beetle eyes, and dragon liver. There are also barrels of slimy stuff, jars of herbs, roots and powders, along with feathers, fangs and claws.
